Vyšná Boca is a village in the Liptovský Mikuláš District, Žilina region, Slovakia. It lies at an elevation of about 950 metres in the picturesque valley on the northern slopes of the Low Tatras. The Grúňový stream flows through the village, surrounded by the characteristic mountain landscapes of the Liptov region.
The first historical mention of Vyšná Boca dates back to 1262. The village was part of Liptó County in the Kingdom of Hungary before the establishment of Czechoslovakia in 1918, and from 1939 to 1945, it belonged to the Slovak Republic. Its history is closely linked to mining and German settlement.
Vyšná Boca is known as a former mining village, where gold was initially extracted, later followed by iron ore and antimony. Since the 1930s, the village has gradually developed a tourist character. The centre features an Evangelical church built in 1785, which is an important local cultural monument.
Visitors are attracted by numerous hiking trails, including "Chata generála M. R. Štefánika – Vyšná Boca" and "Bacúch – Vyšná Boca", as well as routes to the Čertovica Pass and neighbouring villages. For overnight stays, "Chata Štefánika pod Ďumbierom" and "Ramža Shelter" are available. The area offers exploration of mountain ridges, valleys, and scenic views of the Low Tatras.
