Tatralandia: a thermal water park on the shore of Liptovská Mara

Aquapark Tatralandia is a large year-round water leisure complex near Liptovský Mikuláš, on the northern shore of the Liptovská Mara reservoir. It opened on 5 July 2003 and has since become one of the best-known water parks in Slovakia and Central Europe. A holiday village with cottages stands next to it, so many families come for several days.

The heart of the complex is a thermal spring whose water rises from a depth of more than 2,500 m. According to the operator, it contains a share of seawater from the ancient Palaeogene sea that covered the Liptov basin about 40 million years ago. It is a calcium-sodium-magnesium bicarbonate-sulphate water with a total mineralisation of 4.4–4.7 g/l and raised levels of silica, strontium, boron, fluorine and potassium. It is considered beneficial for the musculoskeletal system and the respiratory tract.

What to see and do

• Pools. In summer 14 pools with thermal, sea and fresh water are open, 10 of them all year round.
• Tropical Paradise. An indoor hall under a transparent roof where the air stays at 30 °C all year. It has a pirate sailing ship, real palm trees, 4 pools with salt and fresh water at 34–36 °C, massage benches and a snorkelling pool with an aquarium where you can see corals and colourful fish. The salt pools use salt from the Mediterranean Sea.
• Slides. About 30 slides and toboggans run in summer, 6 all year.
• Celtic sauna world. A complex of 21 saunas, steam, water and massage treatments. Treatments are taken without swimwear; outside there is a bio sauna with a whirlpool and a view of the Low Tatras.
• For children. Karibik Kid's Island, an entertainment programme in summer and shallow pools.

Practical information

Getting there. By car take the D1 motorway, exit 42 "Liptovský Mikuláš", then go through the town centre towards Liptovský Trnovec. There is a large car park by the water park; mind the speed camera — limits of 70 and 50 km/h. Liptovský Mikuláš bus and railway stations are about 3 km away: suburban buses to Liptovská Ondrašová stop right at the entrance, and in summer city bus No. 13 runs here. The nearest airport is Poprad-Tatry.

Opening hours (as of October 2026): from 1 September Sunday–Thursday 10:00–20:00, Friday and Saturday 10:00–21:00; during the autumn school holidays, 23–31 October, daily 10:00–21:00.

Tickets (prices depend on the date; example for November 2026 at the ticket office): an all-day AQUA TICKET for an adult (18–59) costs €40, a 3-hour ticket €34; online on Gopass it is cheaper — €36 and €32. An all-day ticket for a child aged 6–11 is €30, for juniors aged 12–17 and people over 60 €35. Children under 6 enter free. A separate 90-minute entry to the sauna world costs €23, a supplement to a water park ticket €17.

Good to know. Children aged 6–12 may use the saunas only until 17:00 (last entry at 15:30). The operator announces planned maintenance: on 2–6 November 2026 White Lagoon and Bubble Pool will be closed, on 7–11 December Paradise Pool, Tropical Pool and the snorkelling pool. The water park suits families with children of any age and people who do not hike: you can spend a whole warm day here even in winter.
