Liptovský Mikuláš is a town in the Liptovský Mikuláš District, Žilina region, Slovakia. It is situated on the Váh River between the High Tatras and Low Tatras, in the Western Carpathians. The town lies in the Liptov Basin, at an elevation of 577 m, covering nearly 70 km². Liptovská Mara reservoir is nearby, and the surrounding mountains make the town a key tourist hub in the region.

From the second half of the 10th century until 1918, Liptovský Mikuláš was part of the Kingdom of Hungary. The town was first mentioned in 1286, and the Church of Saint Nicolaus, the oldest building in town, was recorded in 1299. In the 14th century, the town gained economic importance and became the seat of Liptov in 1677. The legendary Slovak "Robin Hood" Juraj Jánošík was executed here in 1713. In 1848, the Demands of the Slovak Nation were signed in the town.

Liptovský Mikuláš is known as an industrial and tourist center, as well as a place of culture and sports. It is home to the Slovak Museum of Nature Protection and Speleology, the Peter Bohun Gallery, the Janko Kráľ Museum, the Tatralandia aquapark, and historic landmarks such as the Church of St. Nicolaus, the synagogue, the Vranovo manor, and the Black Eagle Inn. The area features scenic valleys, caves, and mountain peaks.

Visitors can explore natural and cultural attractions such as the Liptovská Mara reservoir, Liptovský Hrad ruins, the wooden articular church in Svätý Kríž, the Havránok archeoskanzen, the Ethnographic and Shepherd Museum in Liptovský Hrádok, the Slovak Museum of Nature Protection and Speleology, and waterfalls in the Kvačianska and Prosiecka valleys. There are 29 hiking trails, including "Kvačianska Valley Mouth – Volovec – Pyšné Saddle" and "Tatra Magistrala: Na Tokarinách – Podbanské". Mountain lovers can ascend peaks like Baranec, Plačlivé, and Polana. For local craft and gastronomy, visit Liptovar Brewery, Dechtáre Sheepfold, or Strachanovka Koliba. For relaxation, try Tatralandia aquapark or TERMAL raj in Liptovský Ján, and for overnight stays, Červenec Hut and Žiarska Hut are available.
