Map of mountain rescue units

Before you head into the mountains

  1. Tell the local mountain rescuers (by phone or at the unit) and your family about your route: who is in the group, the route, dates and a phone number. Let them know once you are back down.
  2. Save 101, 112 and the number of the unit for your area in your phone. Charge the phone, carry a power bank, turn location on.
  3. In an emergency tell the dispatcher: what happened; how many people are hurt and how badly; where you are — GPS coordinates from your phone, the trail name, the nearest peak or landmark; your call-back number. Keep the phone on and stay where you are unless the rescuers say otherwise.
  4. Check the forecast, start early and come back in daylight. In fog or a thunderstorm don’t leave the trail — turn back.

Register your hike with the DSNS online: Zakarpattia region · Ivano-Frankivsk region · Lviv region · Chernivtsi region — or in the DSNS app «Порятунок у горах» (Rescue in the Mountains, Android): SOS with your coordinates and a call to the rescuers.
