Mount Obroslyi Verkh
Obroslyi Verkh is a 1,177 m summit in the south-eastern part of the Parashka ridge in the Skole Beskids (Lviv Oblast). For hikers heading to Parashka from Skole (about 5.7 km away) it is the first high summit of the crest: from here the path continues over Zelena and Tymkiv Verkh to Parashka itself (1,268 m), about 2.5 km to the north-west. The village of Korostiv is about 5 km away.
The neighbouring Zelena (1,217 m) is about 700 m to the north-west. About 1.5 km to the south stands the lower Havrylivka (923 m), and about 2.4 km to the south-east lies Korchanka (1,178 m), another of the ridge’s main summits. The mountain is within the Skole Beskids National Nature Park.
How to get there
Fourteen of our routes cross Obroslyi Verkh or pass within 30 m of it — all of them follow the main crest to Parashka. The shortest is Skole – Mount Parashka (9.9 km, about 1,040 m of ascent); Skole – Mount Parashka (10.2 km) is similar. The loop Skole – Mount Parashka – Skole (19.5 km) brings you back to town. For a long traverse there is Kamianka – Mount Lopata – Skole – Mount Parashka – Krushelnytsia (51.1 km), linking two ridges of the Skole Beskids. About 1.5 km away runs the short loop Skole – Mount Markovtse – Mount Korchanka – Skole (13.4 km).
Water, shelter and safety
Our map shows the nearest spring about 350 m to the north-west, at roughly 1,090 m (condition unknown). Another spring by the path from Skole, about 1.6 km to the south-east, is marked as weak. The shelter below Parashka is about 1.7 km away and the Parashka mountain hut about 2.2 km to the north-west. The climb from Skole is long and steep, so start in the morning and carry water from town. Check the weather on Parashka, the nearest summit with our forecast, about 2 km away. In an emergency call 112 or 101 — mountain rescue works around the clock.
