Mount Zelena

Zelena is a 1,217 m summit on the Parashka ridge in the Skole Beskids, Lviv Oblast. It stands in the middle of the crest that leads from Skole to the ridge’s highest point, Parashka (1,268 m), about 1.8 km to the north-west. The nearest settlements are Korostiv (about 5.5 km), Skole (about 6.3 km) and Krushelnytsia (about 6.4 km).

Zelena is one of the main summits of the Parashka ridge, together with Tymkiv Verkh, Obroslyi Verkh and Korchanka. Its neighbours are very close: Obroslyi Verkh (1,177 m) lies about 700 m to the south-east and Tymkiv Verkh (1,227 m) about 800 m to the north-west. Almost the whole ridge belongs to the Skole Beskids National Nature Park.

How to get there

Zelena sits right on the main path from Skole to Parashka: 14 of our routes cross the summit or pass within 30 m of it. The shortest is Skole – Mount Parashka (9.1 km, about 990 m of ascent). To return to town by a different path, take the loop Skole – Mount Parashka – Skole (20.3 km). If you also want to see a waterfall, walk Skole – Mount Parashka – Hurkalo Waterfall (18.9 km); for a full day in the mountains there is Skole – Mount Parashka – Hurkalo Waterfall – Korchyn – Skole (38.1 km).

Water, shelter and safety

Our map shows the nearest springs about 370 m to the west (at roughly 1,110 m) and 400 m to the south-east (about 1,090 m); their condition is unknown. A few more springs lie on the western slopes 1.4–1.6 km away. The shelter below Parashka is about 1 km to the north-west, and the Parashka mountain hut about 1.5 km in the same direction. Interesting facts

• The Parashka ridge begins about 4 km west of Skole and runs 7.6 km to the north-west; Zelena is the third highest of its main summits.
• The path from Skole over Zelena is one of the Skole Beskids National Park trails (the Skole – Parashka route, about 10 km long).
