Jarabá is a small village in the Brezno District of the Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia, situated at an elevation of 840 metres in the picturesque valley of the Štiavnička river, on the southern side of the Čertovica Pass. The village lies in the heart of the Low Tatras, surrounded by forested mountains and open meadows, offering a tranquil setting close to nature.

The first historical mention of Jarabá dates back to 1540, when it was established as a mining settlement. In the Middle Ages, silver and copper were mined here, and from the 16th century, iron ore as well. By the early 19th century, mining had ceased, and residents turned to forestry and later to industrial work in Brezno and Podbrezová.

Jarabá is known for its authentic atmosphere and natural beauty. The village is surrounded by the forests and slopes of the Low Tatras, and a ski resort is located nearby. The Štiavnička river flows through the village, adding to its charm. Jarabá preserves the traditions and calm of mountain life, as well as a rich mining heritage.

For visitors, Jarabá is an excellent starting point for hiking and mountain adventures. There are numerous marked trails such as "Horná Jarabá – Čertovica, motel", "Beňuš – Čertovica, motel", and "Bacúch – Vyšná Boca". Mountain huts like "Chata Štefánika pod Ďumbierom" and "Ramža Hut" are accessible from here. Outdoor enthusiasts will find ideal conditions for exploring the Low Tatras.
