Mount Oseredok
Oseredok is a modest 915 m summit right above Vorokhta (about 2 km), north of the Chornohora range, in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. The villages of Voronenko (about 3.8 km) and Yablunytsia (6.6 km) are also nearby. For many hikers setting out from Vorokhta to Kukul, Oseredok is the first summit on the way.
A wooded ridge runs south from Oseredok: about 2.7 km away lies Nimakivskyi Hrun (1,204 m), 3.1 km away Kychera (1,225 m), and beyond them Kukul (1,539 m). Lysynka (986 m) rises about 3.8 km to the north-east.
How to get there
10 of our routes pass within 300 m of Oseredok, mostly from Vorokhta and Voronenko to Kukul. The closest, about 40 m from the summit, is Vorokhta – Mount Kukul – Yasinia (36.3 km). The classic ascent of Kukul is Vorokhta – Pereslip – Mount Kukul (11.7 km, about 1,100 m of ascent). Loop and through options include Voronenko – Mount Kukul – Vorokhta (22.7 km), Vorokhta – Mount Kukul – Yablunytsia (24.6 km) and the long Vorokhta – Kukul – Breskul – Rebra – Pip Ivan (Chornohora) – Dzembronia (59.1 km).
Water, shelter and safety
On our map a spring is marked about 190 m south of the summit (at about 880 m, condition unknown), with a weather shelter 880 m in the same direction. A picnic shelter stands about 1.1 km to the north, another weather shelter 1.5 km to the north-west, and a hikers’ shelter near Vorokhta about 1.65 km to the east. The slopes are wooded; higher up the path reaches the open pastures of Kukul, where the weather changes quickly. The nearest summit with our forecast is the weather on Khomiak (about 11 km). In an emergency call 112 or 101 — contacts of the nearest units are on our mountain rescue page.
Interesting facts
- The marked Vorokhta – Kukul route goes right over Oseredok: it is about 12 km long with about 800 m of height difference.
