Mount Ivolove

1 415 m Mount Ivolove, Vovchyi

Ivolove (sometimes spelled Ivolovo) is a 1,415 m summit in the Polonyna Borzhava massif in Zakarpattia Oblast. It stands on the spur that descends south from the highest summit of the massif, Stii (1,681 m), about 1.9 km to the north. The nearest of the villages on our site is Vovchyi (about 7.6 km), followed by Podobovets (about 10.5 km) and Huklyvyi (about 11 km). The southern climbs to Stii from the villages of Berezniky and Sasivka lead over Ivolove.

About 1.4 km south of Ivolove stands Kinska (1,255 m), 2.2 km to the west Zeneva (1,365 m) and 2.8 km to the west Zapodryna (1,170 m). About 3.2 km to the north-east lies Biletskyi Verkh (1,146 m).

How to get there

The route Berezniky – Mount Ivolove – Mount Stii – Mount Zeneva – Vovchyi (28.5 km, about 1,660 m of ascent) crosses the summit, passing 70 m from the highest point. Six more of our routes traverse the slopes 220–260 m from the top:

Water, shelter and safety

On our map the nearest spring lies below Stii, about 400 m east of the summit, at around 1,310 m; another is about 1.1 km to the south-east (about 1,190 m). The condition of both is unknown. A spring with drinking water is marked about 2.1 km to the north-west, and a weather shelter below Biletskyi Verkh about 3.2 km to the north-east. The slopes below Stii are treeless, so thunderstorms and strong wind are dangerous here. The forecast for the nearest summit: the weather on Mount Stii, about 2 km away. In an emergency call 112 or 101 — mountain rescue works around the clock.
