Blatnica is a village and municipality in the Martin District, Žilina region, Slovakia. It lies at the foot of the Greater Fatra mountains, at an elevation of 495 metres, and is located at the opening of the picturesque Gader and Blatnica valleys. The village covers an area of over 86 km² and has a population of 1,065 (2025).

The first written mention of Blatnica dates back to 1230. Archaeological excavations have uncovered Slavic tumuli with artifacts from the 8th and 9th centuries, including the famous Blatnica Sword. The site gave its name to the "Blatnica-Mikulčice" archaeological horizon. The Blatnica Castle was built at the end of the 13th century.

Blatnica is known for its natural beauty, including the surrounding valleys and the ruins of Blatnica Castle on a ridge above the village. The village features two manor houses from the 18th century, a classicist Lutheran church, and many well-preserved rural houses. It is also associated with the botanist Izabela Textorisová and ethnographer Karol Plicka, whose museums are open to visitors.

Visitors can start several hiking trails from Blatnica, such as the "Blatnica – Kráľova studňa, spring" routes (green and yellow) and the Janko Bojmír Trail. The peaks Ostrá and Drieňok are popular destinations. Notable sights include Blatnica Castle and the Gader Valley. The Havranovo hut is available nearby, and local culinary traditions are represented by the Turčianska bryndza dairy in Turčianske Teplice. For relaxation, Spa & Aquapark in Turčianske Teplice is close by.
