Description of Ruschyna meadow

Ruschyna meadow is famous for its panoramic views of the mountains that surround it from all sides and the diversity of flora and fauna. In the meadow you can find a large number of mountain flowers, herbaceous plants and berry bushes. You can also observe a variety of birds, bats, roes and other animals. Polonyna Ruschyna is a popular destination for tourists and outdoor enthusiasts. The meadow has several mountain trails and routes for hiking, climbing, cycling and skiing in winter. You can also visit an apiary where they produce honey from natural mountain flowers.

Interesting facts

  • On the southeastern side of Ruschyn there is a source of drinking water. The Bystrytsia River originates here.
  • On the opposite side of the meadow are the ruins of a Polish fortification. The building once served as a command post until 1939.
  • Another notable place in the meadow is the Pieklo cliff. The old border posts of the Polish-Czechoslovakian border are still preserved here.
  • Ruschyna meadow is located at the intersection of many tourist routes. People often stop here for the night.

Routes through the meadow

The routes that pass through the Ruszczyna meadow are often used by hikers. You can start from the villages:

  • Stara Huta. The distance to the meadow is about 15 km.
  • Bystrytsia. Also about 15 km away.
  • Osmoloda. The village is located 19 km from the destination.

How to get to the meadow

The best way to visit Ruschyna meadow is to go on a hiking trip. Many routes start from the villages of Stara Huta and Bystrytsia. The villages can be reached from Ivano-Frankivsk by regular regional buses.
