Mount Sheshul

Sheshul is a 1,726-meter peak of the Ukrainian Carpathians, which is located in the western part of the Chornohora mountain range within the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve. The mountain is located on the territory of Rakhiv district of Zakarpattia region, in the northeast direction from the city of Rakhiv.

Sheshul's peak and its summit slopes are covered with shrubs, grasses and dense blueberry thickets; below the level of the meadows, there are centuries-old beech and beech-fir forests.

To the northeast of Mount Sheshul are Mount Petros and Mount Petrosul, to the east is Mount Hoverla, and to the northwest is the Svydovets mountain range with its highest peak, Mount Blyznytsia.

There is a shallow saddle between Mount Sheshul and one of the spurs of Petros (by the way, tourists often stop here for the night or just to rest when climbing Petros from Kvasy or vice versa, when descending to the village of Kvasy from Petros). If you did not plan to conquer Sheshul while climbing Petros, which actually passes through this saddle, you can make a radial ascent to it if you wish, leaving heavy backpacks behind. It is worth noting that many Ukrainian maps, inherited from Soviet cartographers, show the height of Mount Sheshul at 1688 meters. However, this is not reliable information, as this height belongs to one of the side peaks located to the west of the main peak. The correct height is 1726 meters, which is recorded on Polish maps of pre-war times.
