Bukhtivetsky waterfall, Bukovo

Bukhtivetskyi waterfall (Vodopad Bukhtivets ) is a waterfall in the Ukrainian Carpathians, in the Gorgany massif; a hydrological natural monument of local importance (since 1972). It is located on the Bukhtivets River (the left tributary of the Bystrytsia Nadvirna), near the village of Bukove, in the Bukhtivets tract. In 1972, Bukhtivets Waterfall was designated a hydrological natural monument of local importance and placed under protection. It is easily recognizable by a characteristic log that lies directly in the water stream.

The height of the waterfall is about 8 m, the average width is 1-2 m, and the number of cascades is 1. It was formed in the place where the stream crosses a rock mass of a flysch type. The stream accelerates in a narrow trough-like chute, from which two streams fall almost straight down to the foot of the rock. Then the stream flows through a narrow canyon-like valley framed by high sheer cliffs.

At a distance of 50 meters from Bukhtivetskyi is Krapelkovyi waterfall, and 300 meters upstream is Bukhtivetskyi Upper waterfall (3.5 m).

To get to the waterfall, look for the village of Bukove, where the waterfall is located. There is a dirt road to the village, so in rainy weather it will be difficult to drive on it. In the dry season, the waterfall can be reached by any car.

When you enter the village, you will definitely not miss the sign to the waterfall itself. From the sign, there is a path with a handrail, going down which you will get ... to the equipped gazebos and signs "Danger! The passage is closed" in the direction of the waterfall.

To get to the waterfall itself, you need to go down the path, which is located about twenty meters in front of the sign. There is also a sign there, but it is very small and easy to miss.

When you get down to the bottom, don't relax too much either. The mountain river Bukhtivets will block your way. Prudent tourists have laid a stone bridge across it, but you still need to cross it carefully - the stones are slippery. Again, it all depends on the weather. After crossing the makeshift bridge, you will come to two waterfalls at once!
