Kosmatska's bald head

The mighty Kosatska Lysyna (1464m) is an extremely picturesque peak that is worth visiting for everyone who is in love with the Carpathians. Kosatska Lysyna offers a breathtaking view of the Montenegrin ridge with all the peaks. There is a reasonable version that there was an astronomical sanctuary on the mountain since ancient times, thanks to which ancient people observed the sun and other celestial bodies. The best option is to climb to the top from the village of Kosmach (Vedmezhyi village). The ascent lasts 3-4 hours. The route is of medium difficulty. Near Lysyna there are sacred springs and a whole complex of sacred stones. The name of the mountain - Lysyna Kosmatska - is partially confirmed by its appearance, because the slope of the mountain is covered with stone placers, huge slab formations and the rest is overgrown with coniferous forest.

Now Lysyna Kosmatska is covered with coniferous forest, but in ancient times it was a stone bald mountain. Lysyna Kosmatska is also called the "Ukrainian Stonehenge". The upper slabs form a 6-meter-long tunnel. Its height on the western side is 1.2 meters. The sanctuary on the mountain covers 400 square meters. The Kosmatska Bald Mountain is an object of research for scientists, and the mountain served as an astronomical and calendar sanctuary. On the top of the mountain there are 12 cup-shaped depressions that symbolize 12 months, 12 zodiac signs, and the solar cycle. Both the first and second routes start in a place that still needs to be reached from the center of Kosmach (5 and 8 km away, respectively). The road there is terrible. The most common and accurately marked route goes through the village of Medvezhyi, to Mount Stevyora, then to the Ledeskul Kosmach meadow and then to Lysyna.
