Dunavka

Mount Dunavka is the highest point of the Synyak mountain range of the Vygorlat-Hutin volcanic ridge in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Dunavka is located on the right bank of the Latorica River at the border of Mukachivskyi and Svalyavskyi districts of the Zakarpattia region.

The height of the mountain is 1018 m above sea level. The eastern slopes are very steep, while the western ones are gentle. Up to an altitude of 600 m, mixed broadleaf forests prevail: oak-hornbeam and oak-beech. Above that, there is only beech forest with a small admixture of coniferous trees. At the very summit of the mountain, ancient pines can be found. In the picturesque surroundings of Mount Dunavka, at altitudes of 800-900 m, clear, ringing mountain rivers originate: Luh, which flows into the Velyka-Pynya near Polyana, and Matekova, which, flowing through Synyak, flows into the Latorica.

Mount Dunavka is located near the well-known climate and balneological resorts far beyond Ukraine: Synyak and the Carpathians, located in the vicinity of the villages of Synyak and Pasika in the Mukachivskyi district; Polyana, Sunny Zakarpattia, and Soniachne in the village of Polyana in the Svalyavskyi district. Polyana is one of the oldest settlements in the Carpathians, known since the 2nd millennium BC. For over 500 years, it has been famous in Central Europe for its healing water, known as "Polyana Kvasova" or "Luzhanska".
