Dunavka
Mount Dunavka is the highest point of the Sinyak Vygorlat-Gutyn volcanic range in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Dunavka is located on the right bank of the Latorytsia River on the border of Mukachevo and Svalyava districts of Zakarpattia region.
The height of the mountain is 1018 meters above sea level. The eastern slopes are very steep, the western slopes are gentle. Up to 600 meters, mixed deciduous forests prevail: oak-hornbeam and oak-beech. Higher up, there is only beech forest with a small admixture of conifers. At the very top of the mountain there are centuries-old pines. In the picturesque surroundings of Mount Dunavka, at an altitude of 800-900 meters, clear, sonorous mountain rivers originate: The Lug, which flows into the Velyka Pynia in the vicinity of Poliana, and the Matekova, which flows through Sinyak and into the Latorytsia.
Mount Dunavka is located next to climatic and balneological resorts known far beyond the borders of Ukraine: Sinyak and Karpaty, located in the vicinity of the villages of Sinyak and Pasika in Mukachevo district; Polyana, Sunny Transcarpathia and Sonyachny in the village of Polyana in Svalyava district. Polyana is one of the most ancient settlements in the Carpathians, known since the 2nd millennium B.C. For more than 500 years, it has been famous in Central Europe for its healing water, which is called "Polyana Kvasova" or "Luzhanska".
