Termy Szaflary (Termy Podhalańskie)

Osiedle Nowe 20, 34-424 Szaflary, Poland

Termy Szaflary is a thermal complex in the village of Szaflary, between Nowy Targ and Zakopane. It used to be known as Termy Podhalańskie, a name still found in older guidebooks. It has four pools with geothermal water — two indoor and two outdoor — with a total water surface of 970 m², plus a saunarium, apartments and restaurants. It is a calmer, more compact alternative to the region's big water parks, but with interesting water.

According to the operator, the water comes from the IG-1 borehole run by PEC Geotermia Podhalańska, and its temperature in the pools is kept between 30 and 38 °C. The owners stress that it has the highest mineral content of all waters used for recreation in Podhale. The website publishes a full ion analysis: total mineralisation is about 2,269 mg/dm³, dominated by sulphates (about 779 mg/dm³), chlorides (447), sodium (435) and calcium (198 mg/dm³), with magnesium, potassium, iron, strontium, lithium and borates as well.

What to see and do

  • Thermal pools with plenty of hydromassage features: water jets, massage benches, geysers and neck and shoulder massage with wide and narrow streams.
  • Slides: a three-lane family slide, an indoor slide and an outdoor slide over 55 m long for thrill-seekers.
  • For little ones — a paddling pool with the Słonik ("little elephant") slide, and in summer the "Children's Bay" with entertainers.
  • Saunarium (18+) — Finnish, infrared, herbal, aromatherapy and steam saunas. The zone is textile-free and adults only; on set evenings there are sauna sessions with scrubs and aromatic infusions.
  • Viewing terrace facing the Tatras (weather permitting), plus spa treatments and massages.
