"Perevernuty Khata" Polyanytsia

On the way to the ski resort "Bukovel", you can see an unusual architectural structure – the Perevernuty Khata in Polyanytsia. The structure has become the first architectural wonder in Ukraine. The upside-down house is a very famous place among tourists, and dozens of cars stop here daily to take photos as a keepsake. The uniqueness of the house is that both outside and inside, everything is upside down, with the foundation at the top and the roof at the bottom. During this time, it has become a true symbol. There are about ten similar museums in Ukraine.

Upside-down structures that house hotels and restaurants are not a novelty in Europe. But for Ukraine, this is the first building of its kind. The house seems small, although it has an area of 85 square meters. The Perevernuty Khata is famous not only for its unusual shape but also for its interior. Inside, you can see the real life of local residents, learn about the history of the region, and admire unique and one-of-a-kind items.

Carpathian craftsmen built it using timber-frame technology in just a month and a half. They planned to set up a small hotel or café here, so for comfort, all the furniture is placed in a normal position.

On the first floor of the house, there is a room – something like a utility room or attic, as is customary in regular houses, as well as a toilet. You can reach the second floor via massive wooden stairs. On the second (in their terms, the first) floor, there is plenty of space. Here you can see everything – massive furniture, paintings, even a stuffed fox. And all of this is nailed to the ceiling. The most attention from tourists is drawn to the "chair of a real Hutsul".

This is a very popular place among tourists – besides the upside-down house, there is a large market nearby for souvenirs and local products – various herbs, teas, honey, roots, mushrooms, and drinks.

The Perevernuty Khata is located by the "Yaremche–Bukovel" highway. Buses regularly run from Yaremche to the resort town "Bukovel". You can also reach here by your own car.

The ticket price is 150 UAH. It includes visits to four locations: the Perevernuty Khata, the Bandera's hideout, the Museum of Illusions, and the Curved Mirrors.
