Museum of Hutsul Embroidery in the village of Zelene, Verkhovyna District
Українські Карпати неможливо уявити без гуцулів – водночас працьовитих і позитивних горян, одягнутих у народний одяг, що оспівують красу рідного краю. У селах Івано-франківщини практично усюди можна зануритися в справжню гуцульську атмосферу – чи то попробувати смачні страви місцевої кухні, чи то приміряти на себе національний костюм… Неабиякою мірою таку атмосферу під силу створити Музею гуцульської вишивки, розташованого у с. Зелене Верховинського району.
The picturesque village of Zelene is one of the largest in the Verkhovyna District. When you ask its residents what makes it interesting, they first mention the Museum of Hutsul Embroidery and its founder, the well-known embroiderer, writer, and artist Vasylina Yanushevska-Shkriblyak, who is recognized not only in the region but also beyond its borders.
Today, it is simply impossible to surprise someone with a Ukrainian who can embroider, as this skill is, you could say, embedded in their genes. However, it is quite easy to surprise with the famous resident of the village of Zelene, as Ms. Vasylina, through her own efforts, created a real Museum of Embroidery in her homestead in 2006, which occupies three rooms!
Among the exhibits are colorful paintings, icons, portraits, landscapes, pillowcases, towels, national costumes, and many other diverse elements of traditional Hutsul embroidery.
