Museum of Hutsul Life and Art "At the Trembitard", Verkhovyna

At the Museum of Hutsul Life and Art "At the Trembitard" in the Verkhovyna village of Shveykovo, you will learn about the origin of the Hutsuls, their life, mountain life, rituals and traditions. Here, you will be able to play and take part in a master class on various musical instruments. You will be greeted with the sound of trembita. The museum's owner Mykola Ilyuk always greets guests with a trembita.

The museum is located on the slope of Mount Shveykova. The museum's courtyard offers a magnificent view of Verkhovyna and the mountains surrounding it.

The Museum of Hutsul Life and Art "At the Trembita Player" was opened in his home by Hutsul musician N. Ilyuk, the head of the Hutsuly ensemble. Ilyuk's house is located on a mountain in the village of Shveykovo.

In the museum you can see traditional Hutsul costumes and household items. But the most noteworthy is the exposition of folk musical instruments, of which there are more than a hundred.

The owner regularly conducts excursions, telling the story of the origin of the Hutsuls, their life, crafts, and rituals. He can play most of the musical instruments on display. He also offers his visitors master classes in playing the famous Hutsul trembita, drymba, cymbals, or duda.

The museum is open by appointment. Please contact the owner before visiting.

The Museum of Hutsul Life and Art "At the Trembitard" is located in the village of Verkhovyna, at 11a Cheremshyny Street. The entrance to the hut is from Shevchenko Street. You can get here by public transport from Yaremche.
