Museum of Ecology and Ethnography of the Carpathian Region, Yaremche
The Museum of Ethnography and Ecology was founded quite recently, but it has already won the sympathy of local Yaremche residents and tourists who have visited it. The museum raises and studies the issues of ethnic groups, cultural and everyday life in Prykarpattia, and examines the relationship between humans and the environment, as well as its impact on nature.
The main profile is the folk art of the Hutsuls of the seventeenth and twentieth centuries. The museum's collection includes valuable and rare works of folk art from the Hutsul region of Western Ukraine.
A new exhibition has been opened in the museum's exhibition hall, which includes a collection of tapestries by the People's Artist of Ukraine Mykhailo Bilas, spindles, blankets that impress with their unique composition, lightness and harmony of colors, Hutsul costumes, household items of the region and a collection of Easter eggs. The museum visitors will be interested in ceramic products from the Guilovsky workshop, which functioned in Yaremche in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and Hutsul and Hutsulka clothes from the village of Mykulychyn in the 30s of the 20th century.
In the 60s of the 20th century, a modern building was constructed, and the ethnographic museum was created by local ethnographer Mykhailo Muzyria, who opened two thematic halls: one for painting and one for history and natural history. In 2007, it was renamed the Museum of Ethnography and Ecology of the Carpathian Region.
Also, an important role is played by the fact that the Museum of Ethnography and Ecology hosts exhibitions of Hutsul folk art, festivals that reveal the theme of spirituality and culture of the inhabitants of the Carpathian region, thematic round tables and seminars.
You will spend an unforgettable time visiting this museum, get acquainted with the traditions of the locals, learn more about the picturesque region, and learn about the ecosystems of that time.
