Kryvorivnia
Kryvorivnia will provide you with the best vacation. But perhaps first we should remind you of the information about the origin of the name of the village Kryvorivnia.
- The first version says that the first inhabitant of the village was a man named Kryvyi. But he lived on the plain, so when someone needed to visit him, they said that they were going to see Kryvyi on the plain. According to the first theory, this is where the name of the village comes from.
- According to another version, the name comes from the winding banks of the mountain river Black Cheremosh. In the place where the village is located today, the river flows either more or less curved, so perhaps that is why the Hutsuls named their village Kryvorivnia.
- A third version of the name was proposed by the writer Ivan Drach. He said that when something went wrong in a person's life, it would be straightened out in this village.
The village is known for the fact that Sergei Parajanov filmed his movie Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors here. The house where the shooting took place is now a museum. Mykhailo Hrushevskyi used to live in the village of Kryvorivnia in the summer in his "summer house", and prominent Ukrainians of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries liked to rest here, so there are several other museums here.
To the north of the village, on the Verkhovyna-Kosiv highway, there is the picturesque Bukovetskyi Pass (810 m), near which there are natural monuments:the Pysanyi Kamen rocks and the Dovbushanka Rock Corridor. In the western part of the village there is a protected tract "Zarichchia". To the south of the village is Mount Varatyn (1038 m), to the north is the Igrets ridge.
