International annual Transcarpathian festival "Red Wine-2017"

We would like to inform you in advance that from January 11 to 15, 2017, on the Old New Year, the XXII festival-competition "Red Wine - 2017" will be held in the center of Mukachevo, Transcarpathia.

The Chervene Vyno home wine festival has long been a hallmark of Transcarpathia. Since 1996, it has been held annually in Mukachevo on the Old New Year's Eve. This is the time when the wine of the previous year's harvest has just been infused and has all its best properties and taste.

In honor of its twentieth anniversary, the Red Wine Festival has officially become an international event. The best winemakers of Transcarpathia are selected by a competent jury and tasting committee. The winners receive diplomas and special prizes: a horse, a sheep and a pig. Last year, 40 winemakers took part in the festival. The winner of the competition was the famous Uzhhorod winemaker Oleksandr Kovach.

Since last year, the Red Wine Festival has been held in the Peremoha Park instead of the city center. A large fairground of wooden houses for winemakers, street food and souvenir vendors is being set up here.

The Red Wine Festival is a real holiday, with carols, fancy dress, prizes and, of course, tasting. The variety of wine varieties, its flavors and colors, the originality of barrels and bottles can satisfy the most demanding gourmet. Guests will be offered white, red, rosé, hot and cold wine; with cinnamon and honey, from a bottle, barrel, tub, thermos. It is as difficult to list all the varieties presented at the Red Wine competition and festival as it is to taste the drink from each producer.

In addition to traditional Transcarpathian varieties such as Isabella, Lydia, Kadarka, Saperavi and Cabernet, the festival will also offer wines of European varieties such as Zweigelt, Traminer, Cersegi Fuseres, Irshai Oliver, Muscat, and Muller Thurgau.

Both private winemakers and well-known companies presenting wines under their own trademarks take part in the Red Wine Festival. The best amateur winemakers are chosen by a jury consisting of qualified winemaking experts. The most delicious wines will be determined in the following nominations: best red, white and dessert wine.
