"Life and Death in Hutsulshchyna" (2016). Documentary film by Bohdan Kutyepov
Троє братів Череміських живуть у горах, де не мріють про iPhone7, бо щоб заробити на половину його вартості, ціле літо треба лягати опівночі і вставати о 3-й ранку, доїти сотню овець, робити бринзу, мити казани...
This is the ordinary daily routine of 9-year-old Sashko Cheremysky, who earned 3 thousand hryvnias this summer from the "old stable".
But instead of buying a bicycle or a tablet for that money, he paid the shepherds for grazing his four sheep, bought a backpack and notebooks for September 1, and spent the rest... on school repairs.

His brother Yurko, at 10 years old, bakes bread, cooks borscht, and braids his younger sister's hair. The eldest, 12-year-old Vasya, dreams of becoming a reporter or a cameraman, but for now - he just wants to see the big city with one eye. The three boys do not go to school because they need to chop wood for the winter. Otherwise, their large family will freeze...

Meanwhile, in the village of Kvasy in Transcarpathia, where the Cheremysky family lives, a hooligan folk-punk band Familia Perkalaba, led by "Mokh", is traveling from Ivano-Frankivsk. In their desire to climb deeper into the mountains to write a new album, they accidentally find Zina Cheremyska – the mother of our heroes, a Moldovan woman who married a Hutsul 28 years ago and gave birth to seven children.

It turns out that in the empty house where the musicians set up a studio, lived an uncle who died a terrible death a year ago...

"Life and Death in Hutsulshchyna" is a mix of mysticism and magic, an ethnographic expedition, and incredible stories of ordinary people who seem to be frozen in eternity among ancient mountains, surrounded by autumn landscapes.

This is the first film in the documentary film trilogy by Bohdan Kutyepov "Hutsulshchyna"
