Fountain near the Opera House
The Opera received the fountain as a gift for its 120th anniversary. Everything was done very well. A gift from the Sokar company. The renovated square will no longer be used for renting children's cars. According to Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, the opera should have music, musicians, ladies in beautiful dresses, light, beauty, and harmony. The square also has a drinking fountain and a mini-model of the opera house, and the central pedestrian alley is being renovated. The alley will have new lighting, lawns will be watered and paved with natural stone. The cost of the project is over UAH 10 million. The fountain reconstruction project was developed by Kyiv architects: Ivan Yunakov, Andriy Karpov, Yaroslav Katrych, Maxim Astreyko, and Vladimir Tomilenko.
The architects set themselves 3 tasks.
- To make it modern, valuable in the context of the building and to emphasize the architecture of the opera house facade.
- To change the philosophy of the fountain by making it dry. In the cold season, the fountain will be turned off and turned into a pedestrian zone that will be used to set up a Christmas tree or a stage.
- Create a new image by attracting the creative elite. Completely free the square from attractions, install benches, built-in sockets, plant a large number of trees and shrubs, provide free Wi-Fi, and install bicycle parking.
The outline of the square is the silhouette of a violin. The strings are made in Morse code with RGB LED lighting. Open to the world. The weather station, developed by engineers, regulates the pressure and height of the fountain's jet depending on the weather and wind strength. The fountain will become a part of the opera, thanks to the fact that the water jets from the nozzles simultaneously "play" as equalizers. In the evening, the fountain is illuminated, and LED lights will be installed to illuminate the square. The fountain is being financed by the Sokar-Blago charity foundation. The cost of the project is USD 1.5 million.
