Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist, Yaremche

In the center of the resort town of Yaremche, the Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist shines majestically with its gilded domes. The long-awaited church dedication ceremony, which took place on July 7, was a great success, and now the new shrine has become a highlight of the town.

The Greek Catholic Church was built in 1995. The painting of the walls began in September 2009. After the consecration of the church, the regional state administration awarded patrons and donors with diplomas and orders in honor and gratitude for their help in the construction of the church.

The celebration ended with a concert in the courtyard of the People's House.

The church is built of red and white bricks and gray stone. It has 5 domes, symbolizing Jesus Christ and the four evangelists. An arched portal with incredibly beautiful carved doors leads into the building. On the left side of the entrance is a small open chapel where you can pray or just stand and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding area.

The walls were painted under the direction of O. Cherednichenko according to his design. The lower scene of the Ascension stretches from the eastern part of the dome space and ends with the figure of Christ in the dome. Blue rays, decorated with Hutsul ornaments, extend from Christ down the drum. The dome part of the church is skillfully painted with saints on a golden background.

The Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist in Yaremche is located on Svobody Street. A railroad track runs nearby, and the H09 highway runs parallel to it. There is a Yaremche station right next to the church. There are also a large number of bus and taxi routes.
