The Chorgiv spring in Velyka Kopania is called healing for a reason. After all, its water is one of the cleanest in the whole of Ukraine, and it is filled with many chemical elements and minerals, including selenium, which is quite rare and very useful for women's and men's health. Scientists attribute the phenomenon of the village of Velyka Kopanya to its high concentration, which is the incredibly high number of twins and twins born here.

No one knows the exact time of the Chorgiv spring's formation, although it has been known for a long time. Ever since the village was founded in the 15th century, merchants and travelers have been quenching their thirst with the cool water from the stream. The name of the reservoir comes from the Hungarian word "chorhov", which means "waterfall" in Ukrainian. Today, a kind of concrete chapel has been built around the spring, decorated with flowers and icons inside. Nearby, locals sell wild berries and mushrooms.

Thanks to its unique spring water, Velyka Kopania is known as the Ukrainian capital of twins - about 70 pairs were born here out of a population of 4,000. Because of this, the village was listed in the Ukrainian Book of Records. Interestingly, the consumption of Chorhiv water only promotes the birth of twins, and there are no triplets in the village yet.

Chorhiv is famous not only as a healing spring, but also as an extremely clean one. Its water is 22 times cleaner than the average in Ukraine. In addition, it is enriched with silver, which allows it to remain fresh for a long time and not spoil. That's why people come here specifically to collect water and consume it at home. A sip of cool water from the Chorgiv spring will fill your body with such useful elements as zinc, iron, manganese, selenium, nickel, copper, chromium, molybdenum, titanium, zirconium, vanadium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, zinc, silicon, and silver.

Among all the types of springs in Zakarpattia (geyser, fresh, mineralized, salty, thermal, cold), the Chorgiv spring belongs to the system of fresh mineral water springs. The natural water of the Chorgiv spring is a transparent, colorless, soft (hardness 0.55 mg-eq/dm3), odorless, pleasant-tasting liquid. Among the macronutrients, the highest content is accounted for by calcium ions (6.43 mg/l). Magnesium ions are present in a relatively lower concentration in the water. The cations of alkali metals - sodium and potassium - are represented in relatively low concentrations. Among the anions in the water, hydrocarbonates dominate,silicon is presentin a relatively highconcentration, while sulfates, chlorides and nitrates are present in much lower concentrations. The water contains such important trace elements as zinc, iron, and manganese. Nickel, copper, chromium, and molybdenum are present in relatively lower concentrations in the water. Transition elements include titanium, zirconium, and vanadium. The water is characterized by low acidity.

The spring is located in the western part of the village on the regional highway, not far from the town of Vynohradiv.

Velyka Kopanya has no direct transport connection, so you can get here either by car, following the M23 highway from Berehove through Vynohradiv, or by taxi from the district center. The journey from Vynohradiv will take no more than 10 minutes.
