Pip Ivan Marmaroskyi (1936 m) is the highest peak of the Marmarosh range in Ukraine, on the Romanian border, in the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve. According to the border guards, visiting it is prohibited during martial law; in peacetime the climb from Dilove took 18 km and 1650 m of ascent, about 7 hours of walking.

Where it is

The summit lies in the Rakhiv district of the Zakarpattia region, in the highest part of the Marmarosh range, known as the Hutsul Alps. Together with the neighbouring Berlebashka and Zherban peaks and the meadows (the nearest is Lysycha), Pip Ivan forms a separate mountain cluster.

Nature

The summit is pyramid-shaped, with rock outcrops, sharp ridges and steep slopes, especially to the north and east. In spring, after snowy winters, small pools appear around the mountain; they disappear by summer, so they are not on maps.

Where hikers started

The summit was most often climbed from the village of Dilove: Dilove – Pip Ivan Marmaroskyi; hikers camped below the top and went up without backpacks. The summit is in the border strip — check the current restrictions before any hike in the Marmarosh range (details below).
