Kosino Thermal Waters and Water Park, Koson

Kosino Thermal Waters is one of the best-known thermal spa complexes in Zakarpattia. It lies in the village of Koson in the Berehove district, about 12 km from Berehove, in an oak grove that the owners say is around two hundred years old. People come here for genuinely hot water: the pools are filled from a borehole 1,200 metres deep, and the thermal basins stay at 37–38 °C even in winter. For many families, thermal pools in Zakarpattia start with Kosino.

What to expect

The grounds are large and well kept: open-air pools of different temperatures, fountains, paths among the trees and the distinctive tower building you will recognise from photos. The water is not chemically treated, so it keeps its natural mineral content and a slight smell. The pools include the Emerald Pool, the “Golden Tap of Health”, the H₂O pool with a swim-up bar, a swimming pool, a children’s pool, the Yin-Yang pool and a Kneipp bath for contrast treatments.

The water park and fun for kids

In summer the Kosino water park opens next to the thermal pools. Its highlight is a 1,280 m² wave pool, 1.5 m deep, which the owners call the largest attraction of its kind in Ukraine – it is easy to forget that the sea is hundreds of kilometres away. There are 12 water slides in total, from the gentle 6-metre “Snail” and “Zigzag” (for children aged 10 and over) to the steep 12–15-metre “Kamikaze”, “Python” and “Anaconda” (from 14–16 years). The youngest guests have a children’s zone with small slides and shallow pools, plus animators and music. The 2026 water park season has already ended, so watch the official website for next summer’s opening date.

In winter and the shoulder seasons Kosino is mainly about relaxing in warm water. Children under 150 cm visit the thermal pools free of charge, which makes a family trip better value than the price list might suggest. Children under 130 cm must wear armbands or a swim vest in the pools.

The complex runs a cashless system with an electronic wristband. The on-site restaurant serves hotel guests only; day visitors can use bars and fast-food outlets in season. Bring your own slippers, a towel and a bottle of drinking water – after a few hours in hot water your body will need it.

How to get there

The easiest way is by car: from Berehove follow the road towards Koson, a drive of about 15–20 minutes. From Uzhhorod it takes roughly an hour and a half, from Mukachevo under an hour. There is free parking at the thermal pools entrance and separately at the water park. By public transport, travel to Berehove and continue by taxi or local bus to Koson.
