Uniatychi Reservoir, Uniatychi

Uniatychi Reservoir lies by the village of Uniatychi in Drohobych district, not far from Drohobych. It was built in 1972 on the Bar, a tributary of the Tysmenytsia in the Dniester basin, to hold back spring floods and storm runoff. It is managed by the Drohobych water resources authority and holds up to 9.59 million m³.

Uniatychi itself has a wooden church of the Synaxis of the Theotokos. In Drohobych, don’t miss the wooden Church of St George, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2013 among the wooden tserkvas of the Carpathian region. The spa town of Truskavets is also close by.

Recreational fishing is allowed. From 1 April to 10 June a spawning ban applies on all reservoirs of Lviv oblast, but even then the fisheries patrol allows fishing along the dam (as in 2023 and 2026). During the spawning ban (1 April – 10 June) the Lviv fisheries patrol allows fishing along the reservoir dam — as it did in 2023 and 2026. The list is renewed every year, so check the current one in spring.

What to catch

There is no official fish list and no record of state stocking for this reservoir — the species appear only on anglers’ websites, which we could not verify. So we list no species and give no bite forecast.
