Wooden church of St. Nicholas, Urych

In the northern part of the village of Urych, on a hill, stands the wooden church of St. Nicholas. The church was built in 1911, on the site of an old wooden church that was dismantled before the construction of the new church.

The famous architect Vasyl Nahirnyi was the author of the church project. A typical construction solution was used in the construction of the church: a stone foundation was laid and a wooden church was installed on it. The classically three-story, cruciform building has one large dome above the nave. Each part of the temple has one smaller dome at the top, for a total of four. The altar has vestibules attached to it on both sides.

The main entrance to the church is in the narthex. There is another entrance in the eastern part of the nave, and a separate entrance is located in the chancel. The temple is surrounded by a canopy around its perimeter. Soon, the upper part of the church: the dome and walls were covered with tin. In 1914, an iconostasis was installed. On September 25, 2011, the village celebrated the 100th anniversary of the church. In 2012, the tin was removed from the walls and replaced with a new wooden covering. The photos were taken in May 2012 and show that the tin was removed only from the pews. Therefore, you will no longer see the church as it looks in these photos.

Above the main entrance is a plaque with the inscription: "The church was built in 1908 by Mr. Franz Josef, Mr. Andrey Sheptytsky, Fr. Hnat Kalinsky, the father of the parish priest of Okhremovych. It was completed in 1911."

Not far from the church is a wooden two-tiered bell tower. The lower tier is square in plan, the upper one is octagonal with arched windows. On the threshold of the bell tower door is a carving of the date of the bell tower's construction - 1910.
