Heming Brewery, Mukachevo

Mukachevo, Zakarpattia region, Ukraine

Heming is a young craft brewery from Mukachevo that has become a noticeable name on Zakarpattia's beer map in just a few years. It is located at 89a Dukhnovycha Street. The brewery was built from scratch: work began in 2020, the equipment was brought from the Czech Republic, and the team was joined by the experienced brewer Mykhailo Batryn, who had previously worked at leading Ukrainian craft breweries. The first batch – a genuine Czech-style lager – came out in July 2022, and since then Heming has been showing that Zakarpattia can be a beer region, not only a wine one.

The brewers call their philosophy the 'new classic': Czech precision, German discipline and a Ukrainian soul. Rather than chasing trends, they focus on a stable, clean taste, quality water and hops, and proven technology.

Why go

Mukachevo is one of Ukraine's oldest beer towns: historical records mention a brewery here as early as 1567–1568, and the town is now reviving its beer culture – from new craft breweries to Mukachevo Beer Fest, held in June 2026 in the old cellars of the 18th-century Mukachevo brewery in Pidhoriany. Craft beer in Mukachevo is a good reason to stop in the town between the castle and the monastery.

  • buy fresh bottled beer right in Mukachevo and take several styles home for your own tasting;
  • order beer online with delivery anywhere in Ukraine;
  • according to Google Maps, the brewery address welcomes guests daily from midday – please call ahead to check whether the taproom is open and whether a production tour is possible.

What to try

The core of the range is lagers of the Czech and German school: Helles, Lager 11 in filtered and unfiltered versions, the semi-dark Lager 12 Semi Dark and a light Mexican Lager. Hop lovers have the India Pale Lager and LIBERTY American Pale Ale; the pale golden Belgian Pale Ale has a fruity, spicy aroma, and the rich Baltic Porter suits a cool evening. Carte Blanche is also worth a look. You can put together your own craft box of twelve bottles of different beers.

Unfiltered Heming beer keeps for 90 days, filtered for 180; it is best stored cool, at +3 to +6 °C. Sediment at the bottom of an unfiltered bottle is natural yeast and hops, not a defect.
