Regional Museum of History and Local Lore of Hutsulshchyna, Verkhovyna
The idea of creating a historical and local history museum of the Hutsul region belongs to the famous Hutsul socio-political figure, military officer, ethnographer, folklorist, talented original writer, and member of the Polish Sejm Petro Shekerik-Donikiv.
The Historical and Local Lore Museum of Hutsulshchyna was opened in 1938. This two-storey wooden building helps to learn more about Hutsul culture and attracts those interested in the history and life of Transcarpathia. The location of the museum is also characteristic - the village of Verkhovyna, deservedly considered the heart of the Hutsul region.
The museum's exposition is very worthy: a variety of archaeological finds, including ancient household items, traditional embroidery and clothing of the Hutsuls, paintings, wooden and clay products, books, etc. Various and objects of art: towels and napkins with fancy embroidery, boxes made of wood and birch bark, wicker baskets, vases and much more.
Only here you can feel like a real indigenous Hutsul: dress up in a traditional costume and take a picture. And, of course, you can't ignore the famous Hutsul carpet. Here you have the opportunity not only to observe the creation of this masterpiece, but also to sit down at the loom during a master class. The museum regularly hosts exhibitions of local artists whose paintings have a pronounced local flavor.
The main activities of the Museum of Hutsulshchyna today are: replenishment of the collection, excursion and research, scientific and publishing activities, etc.
