Водоспад Пробій є одним із небагатьох карпатських водограїв, до якого дуже легко добратися і не потрібно дуже далеко їхати, адже він знаходиться в самому центрі відомого на всю Україну відпочинковому і оздоровчому курорті – місті Яремче.
If you find yourself in Yaremche, you must visit the famous market known throughout the Carpathians, where you can at least get acquainted with the creativity of talented Hutsul masters, if not buy anything. On the way to this market, you will definitely cross a narrow bridge under which flows Probiy, or as it is also called, Yaremche Waterfall.
Probiy, located on the Prut River, is considered one of the most powerful waterfalls in the Ukrainian Carpathians. History says that in ancient times, the height of the water fall at this spot reached as much as 25 m (!), but to facilitate logging on the Prut River, it was decided to blast the waterfall, thus reducing its size. Today, the height of the fall is about 8 m, and the flow angle reaches almost 45°.
It is worth noting that while most waterfalls in the Carpathians can only be admired from the river valleys, the Yaremche waterfall can be viewed from all angles, especially if you walk along the pedestrian bridge over Probiy or descend to it from the market side. However, do not forget about the dangers posed by the swift waters of the Prut!
Do not be tempted to climb onto the massive river boulders, as ordinary human curiosity or the desire to take a great photo of the waterfall can cost you not only your health but also your life! The stones in this area are always wet, slippery, and the current is much faster and stronger than it may seem at first glance. Therefore, there are known tragic cases when careless tourists were simply knocked off their feet. Be careful and do not take unnecessary risks!
By the way, a marked tourist route leads from the Yaremche Cascade Waterfall to the Yavornik Ridge. Also, Probiy serves as the finish line for the rafting route through the Yaremche Canyon – extreme sports enthusiasts raft from Vorohta to Yaremche when the Prut is full. The total length of the rafting is about 40 km.
