St. Nicholas Assumption Cathedral, Kolomyia
Kolomyia is a small Hutsul town with a very rich history, so it is not surprising that the Nicholas and Assumption Cathedral stands here. This is a fairly recent religious building, built in 1997 with the help of a well-known architect in Kolomyia, Viktor Matsai, and an artist from Ternopil, Ivan Holoshyno, had a hand in creating the interior. This cathedral is one of three local Orthodox churches and belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
"On January 13, 2019, the St. Nicholas Assumption Cathedral of Kolomyia with its clergy and flock joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine," the Metropolitan wrote and published the relevant documents.
Tourists wishing to visit this amazing place will be pleased to know that parishioners and visitors with uncovered heads and jeans are quite welcome here, the doors are open for you all day long. Also, the street where the cathedral is located is so narrow that you will have to try very hard to take a picture in front of this architectural structure.
