Mykolaievo-Ascension Cathedral, Kolomyia
Kolomyia is a small Hutsul town with a very rich history, so it is not surprising that the Mykolaievo-Ascension Cathedral stands tall here. This is quite a recent cult building, constructed in 1997 with the help of the famous architect in Kolomyia, Viktor Matsai, and the interior was created by the artist from Ternopil, Ivan Holoshyno. This cathedral is one of three local Orthodox churches and belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
"On January 13, 2019, the Mykolaievo-Ascension Cathedral of Kolomyia, along with its clergy and congregation, joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine," wrote the metropolitan and published the relevant documents.
Tourists wishing to visit this amazing place will be pleased to know that the parishioners and visitors with uncovered heads and in jeans are quite welcome here, and the doors are open for you all day. Moreover, the street where the cathedral is located is so narrow that you will have to make quite an effort to take a photo against the backdrop of this architectural structure.
