Winnica Widokowa, Kombornia: wine with a view of the Beskids
Winnica Widokowa is a family vineyard on a hill above the village of Kombornia, between Krosno and Brzozów. The hill rises to 470 metres above sea level, and the name says it all: widokowa means “with a view” in Polish. From the terrace you can see more than 130 kilometres of horizon with the ridges of the Low Beskids, and in the mornings the valleys often lie under a sea of fog.
The vineyard came about almost by chance: the owners noticed that the slope had ideal sun, gradient and soil for vines. The first cuttings went in in 2013, and ten years later the plantation had grown to four hectares. Everything is done by one family of five: Krzysztof tends the vines, builds machines for the vineyard and most enthusiastically leads the tastings himself, Monika runs the winemaking in the cellar, and Weronika looks after tastings, sales and events. The owners say each vine yields exactly one bottle, so the whole range of aromas of a single vine ends up in your bottle. Their guiding principles are care for ecology and terroir.
Why go
- A glass of wine with a view. During opening hours you can come without booking (up to 10 people), pay the entry fee, take a glass and sit on the terrace or in deckchairs under the birches.
- A tasting with stories and a look around. When they have time, the owners happily talk about the vineyard and show you the winery or the plantation; to be sure of a full tasting with a tour, write in advance. Groups of 10 or more by booking only: a tasting with local snacks and the story of the vineyard.
- Workshops. In autumn 2026 the programme includes pottery sessions (18 October, 14 November and a St Nicholas session on 6 December), “Art & Wine” painting (24 October), plus floristry wreaths and “Pasta and Wine” cooking evenings, with new dates announced on the website.
- “Wine under the Stars” evenings, seasonal open-air events.
What to taste and buy
Widokowa offers a broad range of wines of varying dryness and acidity: the semi-dry white Sugri from Souvignier Gris (the 2024 vintage, with grapefruit, apple, peach and floral aromas), a red, a rosé, the muscat Muscater, the sparkling Rose Frizzante Secco and the white “O!”. Wine comes with regional cheeses from the local Piastowska dairy, and from June to September with ice cream. Drivers and young guests get natural regional juices, local kombucha, coffee and tea.
