Winnica Kmiecia in Zahutyń near Sanok: tastings and events

Zahutyń 23a, 38-500 Sanok, Poland

Winnica Kmiecia is a young winery in the village of Zahutyń between Sanok and Zagórz, where the Low Beskids meet the Bieszczady. Its plots lie in the Low Beskids Protected Landscape Area and are to reach almost 9 ha. Nine varieties are grown here — Solaris, Muscaris, Seyval Blanc, Riesling, Souvignier Gris, Regent, Cabernet Cantor, Léon Millot and Pinot Noir — and Chardonnay and Zweigelt were planned for spring 2025. All the wine is made only from the estate's own grapes in a modern processing hall under the eye of an oenologist, from harvest to bottling in one place.

Young as it is, the winery has quickly won recognition: at the 12th Polish Wine Competition in Jasło in 2025 it took five medals and the champion title for special wines with Cuvée Blanc Intense 2023; its Rosé 2024 won silver at the international MUVINA competition in Prešov, Slovakia, and the public's "Golden Rooster" award at the Kazimierz Dolny wine festival. At the first Sanok Land Flavours Festival in Zagórz, the jury of the "Golden Monk" contest named Kmiecia the best of six local wineries.

Why go

  • Tasting at the winery. While a separate tasting room is being built, guests are welcomed in the processing hall: you can taste the wines on site, buy bottles and hear how the wine is made. Open all year, but before a weekend visit be sure to phone ahead so that someone is there to welcome you and has time to talk.
  • Events among the vines. In 2026 the vineyard hosted a Kupala Night with workshops in weaving willow wreaths (100 zł) and macramé bracelets (80 zł), a board-games evening, an end-of-summer party and, on 10–15 August, the "Slavic Tales in Wood" plein-air: six carvers created large wooden sculptures inspired by Slavic mythology in front of visitors, with family workshops and stands of village women's circles, and on 15 August a permanent Slavic Sculpture Trail was opened.
  • The view. Rows of vines on a slope looking over the San valley and the first ridges of the Bieszczady.

What to taste and buy

Fresh whites — Solaris and Muscaris, the aromatic Cuvée Blanc Intense blend, the Rosé and a red Regent. Prices in the winery shop (as of October 2026): Solaris 2024 — 69 zł, Muscaris 2024 — 79 zł, Cuvée Blanc Intense 2023 and Regent 2023 — 89 zł each; gift sets are available.
