Ukrainian People's House, Kalush

The People's House in Kalush is a remarkable example of architectural art that has become a symbol of national culture in the late 19th century. It was built in 1880 to host recitals and ideological meetings of the cultural elite of Ukrainian society of those years. The most important achievement of the evenings was the performance of the outstanding patriot and public activist Ivan Franko. The elegant architecture of the building attracts attention from hundreds of meters away. It is an unusual structure wrapped in an L-shape. In the center is a conical tower with a spire. This distinctive feature makes the People's House unlike any other building in the city. The protruding tower with a patterned balcony is clearly visible from all sides of the street. The style of architecture is defined as early modern. All the details are preserved in excellent condition, the building is often repaired and the interior is restored. Nearby is the old city hall with a legendary history.
