Strypko Museum of Ceramics, Kosiv
In the city of Kosiv there is a family museum of Vasyl Strypko's ceramics, established in 1990. The exposition is located in the house where the famous master and his family lived. Vasyl Strypko is an honored master of folk art of Ukraine, self-taught, who managed to develop his own style of work. Three generations of Strypko's family are the followers of his work.
The museum collection consists of the best examples of Hutsul ceramics with the addition of innovative techniques and creative zest of the author. The master uses white and red clay as a dye for his items, the deposits of which are located in Kosiv itself. Traditionally for the Hutsul region, white, brown, green, and yellow colors predominate in the coloring of the finished products. They symbolize air, earth, green grass and the sun, respectively.
The museum's exposition is represented by a large number of tableware: plates, jugs, spoons, mugs, as well as candlesticks, sculptures, jugs, and many other household items.
In Vasyl Strypko's family museum, you can see not only the finished products, but also observe the process of their manufacture. The museum offers many original works made in the best traditions of Kosovo ornaments. Visitors can also sit at a real potter's wheel and make a souvenir with their own hands.
The Vasyl Strypko Museum of Ceramics is open daily and can be visited by prior arrangement with the owners.
