St. Basil the Great Church, Kosiv
St. Basil the Great Church in Kosiv is part of a monastery. The locals call the temple Moskalevskyi after the name of the district where it is located. The wooden St. Basil the Great Church was built in 1895. At that time, a bell tower was also added to the temple. The architectural style is traditional for that time - Hutsul. The church is adorned with numerous onion-shaped domes and one large tent.
In 2009, a fire occurred, and the church burned down. However, in 2011, St. Basil the Great Church was restored based on drawings and photographs preserved in the archive. The new church is also made of wood and completely replicates the previous structure.
The church is located in the city of Kosiv, Ivano-Frankivsk region. From the city center, you should drive towards the Rybnytsia River. After crossing the bridge, you can see the church as if it were in the palm of your hand. Near the temple, there is a monument to the fighters for the freedom of Ukraine. Its foundation contains a list of names of local residents who fell for the Motherland from 1939 to 1952.
