Winnica Księżycowa in Połomia: tastings with the winemaker

Połomia 483a, 38-115 Połomia, Poland

Winnica Księżycowa ("the Moon Vineyard") is a family winery in the village of Połomia in the Niebylec commune, in the hills of Podkarpacie about 20 km from Rzeszów. Połomia was once famous for raspberries and other berries — the local parish is even dedicated to Our Lady of the Berries — but vineyards are increasingly replacing the raspberry fields. The owners, Kasia and Mateusz, came to wine from teaching and IT, and together with their daughters they run a "cosmic" winery: wine names, texts and even the vineyard's history play on the Moon and the stars.

The road was not easy: in 2013 they fell for wine, in 2016 they planted the first vines, in 2018 they made their first vintage, and in 2020 hail destroyed the whole crop — a "meteor shower", as the owners joke. In 2022 the winery began working with oenologist Piotr Stopczyński, and in 2023 its wines went on sale for the first time. Today the Moon Vineyard is a regular at wine festivals in Podkarpacie and in Kazimierz Dolny.

Why go

  • A tasting with the winemaker. The owners talk about the vineyard and their work with wine, show the wine cellar, which many guests consider a highlight, and pour four wines. Tastings are held for groups of 4 to 50 people, in English if needed.
  • An extended or individual format — with snacks (white bread and regional cheeses), more wines and a food-and-wine pairing workshop.
  • Just buying wine. If you don't have a group, you can still drop by for a bottle — the owners will help you choose.
  • The view. Rows of vines on a slope looking over the green hills of the foothills, especially lovely at sunset and during the autumn harvest.

What to taste and buy

Fresh whites from the 2025 vintage — Solaris, Solarix and the aromatic MOONscaris, the Rose and the frizzantes Lunar Blanc and Lunar Rose (69 zł each); the blends Big Bang and Dark Side of the Moon (89 zł), plus Bright Side of the Moon 2024, Zweigelt and Pinot Noir 2024 (99 zł) — prices from the winery's online shop as of October 2026. Some earlier vintages, such as the barrel-aged Chardonnay 2024, are already sold out, so the range changes every year — ask what is in the cellar right now. For celebrations and company events the owners can bring their own mobile wine bar.
