761-ий День народження міста Львова цього року розтягнеться на цілих п’ять днів – із 5-ого по 9-те травня. Нагадаємо, що традиційно 6 травня, у День патрона міста – Юрія-Змієборця, львів’яни відзначають роковини Львова. У місті відбудуться заходи, котрі, передбачається, що відвідають тисячі людей. Тому будуть посилені заходи безпеки. Прес-служба міської ради повідомила про 32 таких події приурочені і пов’язаних із загальноміським святкуванням.
Цього року святкування буде не таким масштабним, як минулого, ювілейного, однак свято відчують мешканці всіх районів Львова. Традиційна хода відбудеться 6 травня о 14:00 і пройде центром міста.
The slogan of City Day will be "The city creates you, you create your city"
On Friday, May 5, the celebration will begin with a solemn session of the Lviv City Council on the occasion of City Day. Later, there will be a street exhibition "This Inspires" based on the results of the eponymous photo contest on the Internet. In the afternoon on Friday, brass bands will joyfully greet everyone with the holiday in the city squares. In the evening, there will be a screening of retrospective films about our city at Museum Square, in the Culture and Recreation Park, and in "Horykhovyy Hay" Park.
The Day of the city's patron – St. George the Victorious, will begin with a ceremonial breakfast at Museum Square. After the traditional festive procession, there will be a show by the National Guard of Ukraine orchestra in front of the Town Hall in the evening.
The epicenter of the celebration will be a concert at Rynok Square on May 7, Sunday. The main stage of the city will feature exemplary collectives from Lviv, with the famous orchestra "INSO-Lviv", contemporary ballet studios from the "Art Guild of Ballet", and the School of Academic and Contemporary Ballet as headliners.
The celebration will also reach the city's districts. This year, for the first time, all districts of Lviv will be involved:
Halytskyi District – May 6-7, a new concert program "Life Has Opened" and a children's holiday will take place in the Culture and Recreation Park.
Frankivskyi District - from May 5-7, City Day will be celebrated in "Horykhovyy Hay" Park during the youth social festival "Lyutin".
Guests can expect interesting master classes, performances by children's collectives and headliners, screenings of cartoons, sports and Cossack competitions, and more. About 1000 children from all regions of the region are expected, as well as students from one of the special boarding schools in Donbas will come to Lviv.
During the event, there will also be a sports and leisure festival as part of the Special Olympics program. Children will be able to learn about many types of SO sports, which will allow organizers to form a base of potential athletes for further training and participation in national and international competitions.
This year's festival headliners are the band "Lesyk Band" (This is not a coincidence, as Lesyk grew up near the park) and "Navigator". At the same time, on Saturday at 21:00, a concert by the band ROSKOKO will take place on the roof of LvivFilmCenter, accompanied by a powerful light show.
Sykhivskyi District - May 6-7 will celebrate City Day under the sounds of the Brass Bands and Majorettes Festival "Royal Lion";
Railway District – will have two celebration locations: on May 6 at Kropyvnytskoho Square, in front of the Stepan Bandera monument, and in Levandivskyi Park, festive events will take place.
Shevchenkivskyi District – on May 7 at the stadium of school No. 92, residents and guests of the city are invited to the City Day celebration of inspiration Riasne.
From May 5-7 in the park on Valakh, an interesting feature of this year's celebration will be the art festival NEWWAVEEXIBITION2017, where works of contemporary Ukrainian art will be presented in the format of an art show. In particular, there will be a visual exhibition with over 80 participants, as well as musical performances by various genre groups. However, this event, which will take place in the park on Valakh, will be paid for visitors.
Chess tournaments from May 3-9
In honor of City Day, a large-scale chess festival, the Lviv Cup, will take place. It will gather more than five hundred participants from different countries. Among them are international grandmasters, national teams, and leaders from their countries. It will become the largest chess event in Ukraine. The Lviv Cup will become a tradition.
Participants of the competition will have the chance to achieve the title of sports master, international master, or even grandmaster. Most of the quiet battles will take place in the Palace of Arts.
The festival director Nazar Firman noted: "Already 25 international grandmasters, 10 federations have gathered. That is, participants from 10 countries of the world. Including Ukraine, 11 federations. We must maintain the reputation of the city. That it is the chess capital of Ukraine, Europe, and the world."
It is worth noting that our city is home to 22 international grandmasters. Lviv resident Vasyl Ivanchuk is the current world champion in rapid chess. And Striyanka Anna Muzychuk is the current world champion in rapid chess and blitz.
