Після успішного відкриття в Києві, Посольство Австралії в Україні (за підтримки Міністерства закордонних справ і торгівлі Австралії та Національного музею Австралії) з гордістю представляє пересувну виставку "Старі майстри" шанувальникам мистецтва у Львові.
The exhibition "Old Masters" will be held at the "Dzyga" gallery (Lviv, Virmenska St., 35) from Friday, February 17 to Friday, March 3.
The official opening will take place on February 17 at 17:00. The exhibition will be open to the public daily. Admission is free.
"Old Masters – outstanding Australian artists who painted on bark" – is an exhibition of famous works by some of the best Australian Indigenous artists of the 20th century. Bark painting is one of the outstanding traditions of world art practiced by Aboriginal artists from Arnhem Land (Northern Territory of Australia) for millennia.
After its opening in 2014 and the successful tour of Australian flutist Ana de la Vega in October 2016, the Embassy of Australia in Ukraine presents a cultural program in Lviv for the second time. The exhibition is part of the 2017 program in honor of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Australia and Ukraine, as well as the celebration of 70 years of Ukrainian settlement in Australia.
"The original exhibition of bark paintings opened in Canberra a few years ago. Since not everyone can travel to distant Australia, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the National Museum of Australia developed a traveling exhibition of reproductions that travel around the world to showcase this wonderful art to a wide audience. We are very pleased to present to Ukrainians a collection of amazing, stunning images – examples of a traditional form of art created by one of the oldest cultures in the world," says Bruce Edwards, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of Australia.
