Museum of Natalia Kobrynska in Bolekhiv

10

History of the Museum

Although the museum was officially opened to visitors in October 2005, the actual year of its foundation is considered to be 1964. It was in this year that R. Skvoriiy opened a memorial room in one of the premises of the then library with the exhibits he collected about the prominent Ukrainian figure.

By chance, the unique materials collected by Roman Teodorovych and his painstaking work gained great publicity, not only in Bolekhiv but throughout the region. As a result, the local authorities had no choice but to create a permanent room-museum of Natalia Kobrynska in the local library.

In the early 90s of the 20th century, local researchers continued Skvoriiy's work and delved into detailed searches and proper coverage of the creative activity and life path of Natalia Ivanivna, as well as her influence on the society of Galicia at that time.

As a result, a huge amount of unique materials was collected, which actually became the basis for a full-fledged Museum of Natalia Kobrynska with a separate building (the former small Jewish synagogue). A monument to N.I. Kobrynska was erected in front of the museum.

Thus, only after more than half a century, the dream of Roman Skvoriiy came true. From a small memorial room in the library, an exquisite building of the Museum emerged as a memory of a talented Galician.

Exhibition of the Museum

The basis of the exhibition consists of various memorabilia related to the life and creative activity of Natalia Kobrynska. Among the exhibits are personal belongings, works, sketches, letters, portraits, and photographs of the writer, towels, interior items, and more.

In general, the permanent exhibition is divided into separate thematic sections: "Bolekhiv during N. Kobrynska's time", "Memorial Corner", "N. Kobrynska among her contemporaries", "Beleluya", "N. Kobrynska and I. Franko", "N. Kobrynska and the Sich Society", and others.

Attention! Entrance to the museum is paid. The address and contact phone numbers can be found here.
