Church of the Holy Trinity, Sniatyn

The city of Sniatyn in Ivano-Frankivsk region has a long history and many monuments. One of the most important is the Church of the Holy Trinity. The church has an interesting history and beautiful architecture. The distance to Ivano-Frankivsk is 100 km.

The Church of the Holy Trinity is one of the main churches in Pokuttia. It is a brick, one-domed, cross-shaped church. The iconostasis is two-tiered with three-dimensional carvings, gilded. The bell tower is brick arched. The church was built in 1928 at the expense of the community through the efforts of the Dutchak and Radevych families. Initially, the church was made of wood. Due to its venerable age, it was dismantled. In 1903, the residents of Sniatyn began to build a new church, which began to function after the end of World War I.
But after the Second World War, the church did not function. In 1961, the church was closed due to the prohibitions of the Soviet authorities. It came out of hiding only in 1989. It was reopened and transferred to the ownership of the UOC-KP community by the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration's order No. 223 of April 1, 1996. Currently, the Orthodox community of Sniatyn holds its services in the church. The church was consecrated on April 6, 1996.

Painted in 1999 under the direction of the rector, Archpriest Mykhailo Marusiak, by artist S. Vdovychyn from Burshtyn. The external restoration was carried out in 2000 and the iconostasis was made by the master Vdovychyn S. I. On September 19, 2001, Bishop Joasaph of Ivano-Frankivsk and Galicia granted the status of a cathedral to the Holy Trinity Church. There is a choir, the regent is D. Lysiuk.

The community takes an active part in all public events of the city and district. The parish runs a psycho-neurological boarding school and an orphanage.
