Dovbushanka Mountain

Mount Dovbushanka is a 1,754-meter peak of the Ukrainian Carpathians, located in the Gorgan mountain range on the ridge of the same name. It is located in the Nadvirna district of Ivano-Frankivsk region within the Gorgany reserve.

The peak has an elongated shape and stretches from southeast to northwest. The southwestern slopes of Dovbushanka are gentle, while the northeastern slopes are quite steep and almost impassable.

The foot of the mountain is covered with coniferous (mostly spruce) forests. At the top, there are difficult to pass mountain pine thickets, and typical for the area stone placers covered with yellowish lichens.

Mount Dovbushanka is a fairly popular mountain tourism destination, both in winter and summer, with the only difference being that if you conquer it in the warm season, it is an exciting and fairly easy journey, but with the onset of cold weather, the peak becomes one of the most difficult to climb of all the others in the Carpathians.

There are many stories and legends about Dovbushanka. This is no coincidence, as the mountain is named after the famous Oleksa Dovbush, the most famous of the Carpathian opryshky. It is believed that it was here, at the foot of Dovbushanka, that the leader hid his treasures. Whether this is true or not, we can only guess...

The nearest settlements are the villages of Bystrytsia, Polianytsia and Zelena.
