Vojvodyn waterfall
The Voyevodyn Waterfall is located on the stream of the same name near the village of Zhdeniyevo in Zakarpattia within the Sokolovi Skeli, an ornithological reserve of national importance, and is considered one of the most beautiful hydrological natural monuments in Ukraine, as well as a great place for photography and picnics.
The Voyevodyn waterfall is one of the incredibly beautiful natural attractions that are hidden by the southern slopes of the Runa valley. It is not easy to get to the waterfall, which is why most tourists prefer the Hiss, and it is worth noting that they lose a lot! After all, Voyevodyn deserves a little more time and effort to get there.
It is believed that the waterfall was formed as a result of an earthquake. The very name of this natural monument, although it sounds quite belligerent, has nothing to do with either voivodes or wars - "voevodyn" comes from the phrase "howl (or "roar") of water" because the waterfall makes a very formidable noise when it falls off the steep rocks.
The total height of the Vojvodina cascades is about 24 meters. The streams of cold mountain water originate on one of the slopes of the Runa valley, flow through a rather deep gorge, and then flow into the Shipot River. Once upon a time, the Voyevodyn had two branches, one right and one left, but today its appearance has changed significantly: water flows only through the right channel, while the left one is completely blocked by rocks.
The easiest way to get to the waterfall is from the village of Zhdenievo. If you walk slowly, the walk to Voyevodyn can take up to 5 hours: first you need to get to the village of Zbiny, climb a small mountain from there, and then descend to the goal of your hike. In total, you will have to cover about 13 km (the total elevation difference is no more than 400 meters).
The route is not difficult at all, and everyone can do it, even without special skills and physical training. Children will especially enjoy this one-day hike. The road to the waterfall is very picturesque, and there are places where you can have a picnic or spend the night near Voyevodyn.
