Nepolokivtsi

The village of Nepolokivtsi, one of the oldest villages in the Kitsman district of Chernivtsi region, is located where two Carpathian rivers, Cheremosh and Prut, merge into one wide channel. It was first mentioned in written sources on May 12, 1425. It is believed that the name comes from the words "to weed", "to wash", "to wash".

According to the legend, the villagers often went to wash (polokat) their clothes on the Prut River, and the residents of the neighboring village of Zavallia, located on the right bank of the Prut, now in the Sniatyn district of Ivano-Frankivsk region, called them the unafraid ones. In 1774, 56 families lived in Nepolokivtsi. In 1884, an elementary school with three classes began to function in the village, with 70 children studying there. They were taught by 3 teachers. In 1880, a reading room was opened.

In 1873 the construction of the church was completed in Nepolokivtsi. It was built for 12 years. The church was started by a man named Yangul, who went to Vienna and asked Emperor Franz Joseph for money. At that time, the school and the church were inseparable.

The Lviv-Chernivtsi railroad passed through Nepolokivtsi, and in 1897 the Nepolokivtsi-Vyzhnytsia railroad was built. Since 1968, Nepolokivtsi has been an urban-type settlement. Today, Nepolokivtsi is home to a bakery, a gravel and sand quarry, the Farvater Industrial Complex, and many private entrepreneurs working in the field of consumer services.

TheNepolokivetsky Nature Reserve is an ichthyological reserve of local importance in Ukraine. It is located in the Kitsman district of Chernivtsi region, near the village of Nepolokivtsi. The area is 26.8 hectares. The status was granted according to the decision of the 6th session of the Regional Council of the XXIV convocation of 27.12.2002 № 127-6/02. It is under the jurisdiction of Nepolokovets village council. The status was granted in order to preserve the spawning and feeding grounds for valuable fish species (pike perch, maren, ribefish) located in the area where the Cheremosh River flows into the Prut.
