Museum of the Oleksa Dovbush movie, Verkhovyna

"Oleksa Dovbush is a feature film directed by Viktor Ivanov and produced by the Dovzhenko Film Studio in 1959 about the leader of the Oprishky. The main filming of the movie took place in Verkhovyna and Kryvorivnia, the highland villages of Ivano-Frankivsk region.

It is worth noting that the Museum of Serhiy Parajanov's Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors has been operating in Verkhovyna for several years now, as well as the Hata Hrazhda Museum in neighboring Kryvorivnia, where Parajanov's film was shot. There are also three museums in Ivano-Frankivsk region dedicated to Oleksa Dovbush.

Oleksa Dovbush is a legendary figure who has been etched in the history of the Hutsul region for centuries, a local Robin Hood, the most famous opryshok in the Carpathians. In Western Ukraine, there is no one who has not heard this name, and in the mountains, the memory of Oleksa is shrouded in legends, and dozens of natural monuments, springs, and mountains are named after him.

The Oleksa Dovbush Museum was opened in 1959 in the village ofVerkhovyna, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, during the Days of Ukrainian Cinema. The museum was created on the initiative of local entrepreneurs Mykola Danyliuk and Volodymyr Sumaruk, who built the museum building at their own expense.

Visiting the museum, guests will immerse themselves in the process of creating a movie and feel the magic of the mountains and the atmosphere of the Opryshko spirit. The exposition of the new museum tells about the filming of Oleksa Dovbush and other films about the Hutsul region.

A special feature of the museum is the presence of a large modern multimedia screen to make modern museums interesting spaces where people would come to socialize and watch movies. The organizers have confirmed that the museum will screen films made in the Carpathians about the Hutsul region.

The screenings will take place daily after 18:00, the entrance fee is 50 UAH for adults, and the entrance fee for children will be 30 UAH. Children under 6 years old are free.
