The krunchy well

The most famous and popular spring in Kosovo. It is located under the Golica ridge, at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level. A beautiful chapel was built near the spring, and benches for resting were installed.
The special role of this spring is growing in summer in times of global warming, when water often disappears in wells and dozens, maybe even hundreds of people go to the spring every day. The softness of the water is another reason for its popularity; in the Kosiv region, the water is very hard, which is harmful to the body. The water is collected in a small stone-lined well, and it runs through the forest, a stream, to the people. You can get to the spring by many paths with beeches, birches, oaks, spruces, pines, and larch trees on both sides.

Why does the well have such a name?
There is a legend that the daughter of a local harsh forester lived in the dark forest on the mountain, who liked to scare people because he could not stand it when they cut down trees. While swaying in the branches of a birch tree, the forest girl saw a young man walking along the path. To attract his attention, the girl began to sing, her voice as gentle as a chick's chirping. She wanted to attract the boy and play with him, as nymphs and mermaids do, to tickle him to death. The boy approached, but her desire disappeared, for he was a tall handsome man with intelligent eyes, and those eyes looked so friendly that, although she had no heart, she felt warmth in her chest.

The young man stopped and looked into her eyes.
- "How beautiful you are!" "I know you're not a human girl, you're a forest girl.

-"If you like me, then stay with me in the forest, we will play and have fun!

-I can't stay with you because I have a lover in the village.

-Is she more beautiful than me?

-Maybe not, but she has something you foresters don't have: a heart.

-Heart? What's its value?

-It's where goodness, mercy, compassion, and love are born, all the things without which we wouldn't be human!

- How unhappy I am! Mother Earth, take me to yourself!" the forester cried bitterly.

The earth quietly opened up and hid the forester in itself. She is still there and sheds tears from which a spring was born, which was named Krynchysta Krynytsia because the young man named the forest girl Kryn. Kryn is the name given to the most perfect flower, the white lily. It is said that water helps those who seek true love.
